Transylvania Community Airport

Transylvania Community Airport is a privately owned  private use facility located 5 miles east of Brevard and 10 miles southwest of Asheville Regional Airport, this beautiful facility is home to some 46 aircraft.

Owned and developed by Ken Allison and his family, long-time residents and commercial nurserymen in the valley, the comprehensive facilities of Transylvania Community Airport received no capital or operating support from public funds.  For your information, a number of locals (including several of the Asheville Airport controllers) also refer to the facility as the Penrose airport.

The modern FBO building features a comfortable lounge, break room, and pilot briefing room including Internet weather service.

The facility is manned every day except Christmas and New Year's Day by Airport Manager Randy Bagby and his staff. Winter hours are from 0830 -1700 while summer hours are from 0830 until 1800. You'll find our Unicom frequency of 122.7 available for airport advisories during these hours, as well as all the services you'd expect from a quality FBO including assistance with car rentals and advice on how to make your stay in our beautiful mountains even more enjoyable.
